Man dies after being struck by a car in Wexford

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward.

A 36-year-old man has died after he was struck by a car near New Ross in Wexford.

Gardaí and Emergency Services were called to the scene of the collision involving a car and pedestrian on the N25 at Portersland around 9.50pm on Tuesday night.

The pedestrian was taken by ambulance to University Hospital Waterford, where he was later pronounced dead.

The driver of the car was uninjured.

The scene is currently preserved for examination by Garda forensic collision investigators and the road at the crash site is closed.

The local Coroner has been notified and arrangements are being made for a post mortem examination.

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to come forward and are particularly appealing to road users with camera footage from along the route at the time to make it available to them.
