Man dies in Westmeath road crash

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses.

A 39-year-old man has died following a road collision in Co. Westmeath.

The man died following a collision between his car and a pickup truck at around 5.30pm yesterday on the N55 at Tubberclare near Glasson.

After sustaining injuries, he was taken to the Midlands Regional Hospital, Tullamore, but was pronounced dead a short time later.

The pickup truck driver, a man in his 20s, and a passenger were slightly injured in the crash.

The road was closed for a technical examination but has since re-opened.
