A male in his 50s was involved in a fatal road traffic collision in Mayo on Wednesday morning.
Gardaí in Westport are currently investigating the collision, which took place on the N59 Mulranny-Newport Road at approximately 9am.
The male driver was the only occupant of the vehicle, which struck a stationary trailer, resulting in fatal injuries.
The local coroner has been notified, Gardaí have confirmed.
The road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by the Garda forensic collision investigators, and local diversions are in place.
Investigations are ongoing and Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to contact Westport Garda Station on 098-50230, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
