Gardai have told the Limerick Leader that they earlier responded to numerous calls reporting the presence of a naked man walking around the outskirts of the city.
The man, who Gardai do not believe was engaged in any criminal activity, was spotted near Ivan's on the Ennis Road walking towards the Coonagh roundabout.
He was attended to by Gardai who wrapped a blanket around him on the side of the road.
One eye-witness reported that the man was seen walking from the Jetland shopping centre, with a pile of clothes, shoes, nail-clippers, reading glasses, and a leather-bound bible in his wake.
The witness added "His clothes are still there, two hours later, at the bus-stop outside Jetland. Apparently he walked all the way out to the next roundabout towards Ennis, and he tried to go into a shop but was kicked out."
