The assailant is believed to have fled in the direction of Dublin.
Gardaí in Meath are investigating an alleged assault on a male which took place on Monday, 23 April.
The incident took place at approximately 11.20am on High Street, Killegland, Co. Meath, when the man in his 20s was attacked by another pedestrian allegedly using what is believed to be a machete.
The victim was subsequently taken to James Connolly Memorial Hospital with serious, but not life-threatening injuries.
The suspect is reported to have fled in a silver Golf with a 01D registration. It is also believed that the vehicle was driving in the direction of Dublin.
No arrests have been made, but investigations are ongoing. Witnesses or anyone in the area at the time should contact Ashbourne Garda station on 01 8010600.
