A man has been shot in Dublin during Gardaí search for a missing woman

Dave Hanratty

Gardaí have renewed their appeal to the public for information.

A number of shots were fired at Cherrywood Business Park in South Dublin on Sunday, and a man in his forties has reportedly been critically injured as Gardaí continue to search for a woman who was reported missing on Saturday evening.

A knife was recovered at the scene and the area has been sealed off with a Garda helicopter and a number of Garda cars and support units present.

Gardaí had previously issued an appeal for information for a woman who was reported missing from County Wicklow on Saturday 19 May.

24-year-old Jastine Valdez from Enniskerry was last seen when she left her home on Saturday afternoon.

Her family reported her missing just a few hours after several witnesses reported a female being forced into a car, which also took place near the woman’s home in Wicklow.

Gardaí had been searching for a black Nissan Qashqai car and had sent out the registration number to the public.

It is believed that a member of the public reported seeing the car at Cherrywood Business Park, which led Gardaí to arrive at the scene at approximately 8pm on Sunday evening.

This led to an altercation between the Gardaí and the driver of the car, who was critically injured after shots were fired.

An incident room has been established at Bray Garda Station and Gardaí are carrying out door-to-door inquiries as they continue to appeal for information regarding Jastine Valdez’s whereabouts.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Bray Garda Station 01-6665300, the Garda Confidential Line 1800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
