A man has died after a shooting in Dublin

The incident occurred on Thursday night.

An investigation has been launched after a man was shot dead in Dublin on Thursday night (11 February).

The fatal shooting occurred in Belclare Terrace in Ballymun at 9pm, Gardaí said.

A male, aged in his mid-40s, received a number of gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene.

The scene is currently preserved and a technical examination is to be carried out by the Garda Technical Bureau.

An incident room has been established at Ballymun Garda Station.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to this incident to come forward, particularly anyone who was in the Belclare Terrace and Belclare Park areas on Thursday evening between 8pm and 9.15pm.

Anyone who may have camera footage of the incident (including dash-cam and mobile phone footage) is asked to make it available to investigating Gardaí.

Gardaí have since said that they are aware of video footage or images circulating online and have asked people not to share “out of respect to the family of the deceased.”
