A man in his 50s has died as a result of a stabbing in Edenderry in Offaly on Sunday evening.
Gardaí were called to a house on Green Road, Ballyfore, Edenderry shortly before 8pm on Sunday evening following reports of a man with serious stab wounds. Despite the efforts of medical personnel, the man was pronounced dead at the scene.
A juvenile male was arrested in relation to the incident and is currently detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at Tullamore Garda Station.
The house is currently sealed off pending the arrival of the State Pathologist and the Garda Technical Bureau, who will carry out a forensic examination of the area. The body of the dead man remains at the scene.
An incident room has been set up at Tullamore Garda Station.
