Michael Gaine has been missing since March
Gardaí continue to question a man aged in his 50s in connection with the murder of Michael Gaine.
Michael Gaine (56) went missing from his home near Kenmare in Co. Kerry on Friday, March 21st, 2025.
Over the weekend, Gardaí arrested a man in his 50s in connection with Michael Gaine’s murder.
The male is being detained under the provisions of Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act 1984 at a Garda Station in Kerry Division.
An Garda Síochána continue to carry out searches and technical examinations at lands at Carrig East, Kenmare, Co. Kerry.
The man’s arrest comes after partial human remains were found on lands in Carrig East, Kenmare.
The family of Michael Gaine has been informed of this arrest, and An Garda Síochána continues to support Michael’s family through a Family Liaison Officer.
Michael Gaine’s family has requested privacy at this time.
Tributes have been pouring in since the remains were discovered.
Flowers, messages, and candles were left at Michael Gaine’s farm over the weekend.
Gardaí continue to appeal to the public for assistance in this investigation.

The homicide investigation is being led by a Senior Investigating Officer and the Serious Crime Unit Kerry Garda Division.
