The man in his 40s suffered injuries in an e-scooter crash in Galway last Friday.

The friends and family of Saul Muniz, the man who died following an e-scooter crash in Galway, has launched an appeal to return his body to Brazil.

The incident occurred around 8.30pm on the R336 outside the former Spinnaker House Hotel last Friday, July 10.

Muniz, aged in his 40s, was removed from the scene for treatment of serious injuries at University Hospital Galway, but has since died.

Now, his loved ones have launched a GoFundMe page to raise money to bring his body home to Brazil.

The appeal page reads: "It is with great sadness that we say goodbye to a dear friend Saul Muniz. Our deepest condolences go out to his family and loved ones during this incredibly difficult time."

"The family’s wish is to bring him back to Brazil so he can be laid to rest surrounded by his loved ones. Unfortunately, the costs of transporting him are very high. If you are able to donate, any amount no matter how small will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to contribute financially, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others."

At the time of writing, the appeal has raised over €20,000, with the organisers saying all 'kindness, generosity, and prayers' are appreciated.
