Marian Finucane’s funeral to be held on Tuesday

The iconic broadcaster died during the week at the age of 69.

The funeral of veteran broadcaster Marian Finucane, who died suddenly on Thursday, will be held on Tuesday 7 January.

Her funeral mass will take place at St Brigid’s Church in Kill, Kildare, at 12pm, before a private burial.

The broadcaster, who worked for RTÉ since 1974, died on Thursday in her home.

She is survived by her husband John and her son Jack.

The Late Late Show paid tribute to her on Friday night, with former Managing Director of RTÉ Radio 1 Clare Duignan being one of the many people to sing her praises.

She said that Finucane: “changed the face of Irish broadcasting and was one of the first women who broke through and became one of the top broadcasters in this country. She changed public opinion, she brought the women’s agenda to the mainstream news agenda.”
