Take note…

Mars Ireland has ordered the recall of a batch of Galaxy Smooth Milk bars and Maltesers Fun Size bags due to the possible presence of salmonella.

In June 2017, the company had issued a recall on a number of products after it was suspected they may have been carrying the bacteria. However, in an update posted today, it’s been revealed that two pallets of Maltesers bags and Galaxy Smooth Milk bars 42g were on hold with an Irish distributor awaiting destruction, but were accidentally placed on the market.

The Batch codes for the following products are 720B1SLO00, best before 13/05/2018 (Galaxy) and
720A1SLO00, best before 13/05/2018 (Maltesers).

The Food Safety Authority of Ireland has today also warned that consumption of these products could result in salmonellosis. Symptoms include diarrhoea, stomach cramps, vomiting and fever, although there are no reports of illness yet.

“Consumers are advised not to eat the specific batches”, FSAI warned in a statement. “Consumers who may have already consumed the implicated batches and are feeling unwell should seek medical advice.”
