One reporter live-tweeted the terrifying attack from under his work desk.
There are reports of fatalities in a newsroom in Maryland in the USA, with the latest news stating that the local police may have taken a shooter into custody.
CNN states that two law enforcement officials confirmed that there are multiple injuries as well as fatalities, with the address of the shooting matching the address of the Captial Gazette newspaper in Annapolis, with the incident taking place at 2.40pm local time (or around 8.40pm Irish time).
Phil Davis, a reporter from the Gazette, tweeted the following:
A single shooter shot multiple people at my office, some of whom are dead.

Gunman shot through the glass door to the office and opened fire on multiple employees. Can't say much more and don't want to declare anyone dead, but it's bad.

There is nothing more terrifying than hearing multiple people get shot while you're under your desk and then hear the gunman reload

CNN have also reported that President Trump has been made aware of the ongoing situation.
