Gardaí seize goods in League of Ireland match fixing investigation

“Evidence of betting”, mobile phones, €20,000 in cash and a stun gun was seized by investigating Gardaí in Limerick.

Gardaí have seized a number of goods, including “evidence of betting” in a League of Ireland match fixing investigation.

The Garda National Economic Crime Bureau (the anti-corruption unit) carried out a number of searches in the Limerick City area in connection with an investigation into match fixing in the League of Ireland, with support from detectives attached to the Limerick Division.

During the course of the searches documentary evidence including evidence of betting, mobile phones, electronic devices, €20,000 cash and a stun gun was seized.

The searches were carried out on Thursday 30 January.

Gardaí said that no arrests were made and investigations are ongoing.
