Wintry conditions show no sign of abating.

Commuters are being warned to expect dangerous driving conditions on Tuesday morning; Met Eireann has issued a national snow and ice warning after temperatures fell below freezing overnight.

The yellow warning is in place until midday on Tuesday, with showers of snow expected this morning.

Meanwhile, AA Roadwatch has appealed to drivers to slow down this morning and allow additional time for your journey.

“Give yourself plenty of time to reach your destination and use major routes as they are more likely to have been gritted than secondary roads. Remember, stopping distances are 10 times longer in ice and snow,” read a statement.

There is already snow this morning on roads around Letterkenny, Co. Donegal. It’s snowing around Cavan town and Portlaoise but only sticking in some parts. Road conditions are reportedly slushy around parts of Galway city and Ennis, Co. Clare.

Following snow overnight, roads are wet around Limerick City, Thurles, Tullamore, Navan, Longford Town, Sligo Town, Castlebar and Carrick On Shannon.
