Met Éireann issue status orange wind warning for 14 counties

14 counties are going to get absolutely battered by the wind tomorrow.

There's been some properly rubbish weather over the Christmas period, though you may not quite have noticed if you've spent the entire holidays cuddled up on your couch. Unfortunately, it's back to reality for the vast majority of us tomorrow, and many of us will be facing some extremely harsh weather throughout the day, thanks to Storm Eleanor. There's already been a status yellow nationwide wind warning issued for the earlier part of tomorrow, but it turns out that the weather is set to get even worse as the day progresses — for 14 counties in particular. Met Éireann has issued a second warning, in effect tomorrow from 17.00 until 22.00. The warning applies to Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, South Galway, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary. The warning forecasts that "Storm Eleanor will quickly move across the country tomorrow evening and tomorrow night. West to southwest winds of mean speeds 65 to 80 km/h, gusting to 110 to 130 km/h, with damaging gusts are expected." You can keep up to date with all of Met Éireann's weather warnings here.
