Rain is coming.

Storm Callum has passed over Ireland with some coastal areas being affected by strong winds and stormy conditions.

But the worst of the weather isn’t over just yet because Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow.

The warning was issued at 6am on Saturday morning and is valid from 6am on Saturday until 9pm on Saturday night.

Met Éireann has said there will be persistent rain which will turn heavy at times with risk of spot flooding due to 30 to 40 mm totals.

Saturday afternoon will be mostly cloudy and wet with rain in all areas, heavy at times with a risk of spot flooding. Drier weather will develop in the west this evening.

Sunday will be a better day as any lingering rain fades from the east and the day will brighten up with sunny spells developing.

As for the week ahead, it’s looking like a rather mixed bag at the moment with Monday and Wednesday appearing likely to be mainly dry but Tuesday will be wet with scattered showers throughout the day.
