A new warning.

Today looks set to be the hottest day of the year as parts of Ireland will hit the 30 degree mark and on that note, Met Éireann has issued a new high temperature warning.

They state: “Maximum temperatures of 27-30 degrees are expected on Thursday and Friday. The alert was issued at 10pm on Thursday and it lasts until Friday night at 21:00.”

At present, we’re closing in on Ireland’s record temperature which was 33.3C in 1887. With regards to the sweltering conditions, there’s even better news because there’s no foreseeable change for the next few days.

This being said, Irish Water have urged people to be practical when it comes to consuming water. On a similar note, the RSA are advising people to use caution on the roads as hot weather means hot roads and softer road surfaces.

They’re also encouraging people to bring adequate supplies of water and other cold drinks on road journeys this week.
