Horrific storms are like buses… You wait ages for one and then two come along, one after another.

We’ve just seen Storm Doris out the door but don’t un-batten the hatches just yet, because Storm Ewan has arrived.

The storm will involve wind-speeds of 120km/h – equivalent to 75mph, and the worst-affected counties will be along the south coast, including Cork, Kerry, Waterford and Wexford. Met Éireann has issued a national weather warning, but those four counties should be on higher alert, having been issued a status orange wind warning.

There’s a status yellow wind warning for many other counties, including Dublin, Carlow, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Louth, Wicklow, Offaly, Westmeath, Meath, Clare, Limerick and Tipperary, according to RTÉ.
