Met Éireann has issued a thunder and lightning advisory for Monday

Met Éireann has issued another thunder and lightning advisory for Ireland on Monday.

The weather advisory was issued on Sunday evening and is in effect on Monday from 6am until 11am tonight.

Met Éireann said that thunderstorm and lightning activity will develop on Monday especially in parts of the midlands, west and north.

Monday will start bright and dry but that will change as the day progresses.

Showers will develop from lunchtime onwards and will be heavy with the chance of thunder and some local flooding.

The midlands and north will face the bulk of the showers. It will be warm with highest temperatures between 20 and 23 degrees in the midlands and north but closer to 18 degrees around the coasts.

Monday’s advisory follows a Status Yellow thunder warning which was issued by the forecaster for Sunday.

This warning expired on Sunday night but was valid for Munster, Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Kilkenny, Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath.
