Met Éireann has issued a Status Yellow rainfall warning for 10 counties.

The warning affects Galway, Mayo, Sligo, Roscommon, Leitrim, Donegal, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick and is active from 6am on Friday until 6am on Saturday morning.

Met Éireann warned that rain in these areas will turn persistent on Friday and heading into Friday night there will be a risk of some localised flooding.

For the duration of the warning, rainfall totals of 30-50mm are expected with higher levels in mountainous areas.

It will be warm on Friday, with maximum temperatures ranging 16 to 20 degrees with some fresh and gusty south or southwest breezes.

On Saturday morning, it looks as though heavy rain from overnight will give way to bright or sunny spells and showers.
