Weather warning

Ah here…

OK, it seems the dry weather is well and truly in the rear-view mirror after the glorious sunshine we had over the last few days.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois and Offaly over the next 24 hours.

The warning, valid from 1pm on Friday until 1pm on Saturday, has warned of heavy rain in those counties over the next day or so.

There are potential accumulations of 30 to 40mm of rain expected to fall between now and tomorrow afternoon.

Met Eireann said earlier today that Friday would be mostly cloudy with scattered outbreaks of rain, locally heavy and a risk of thundery downpours.

It will be misty in places with some bright spells. Top temperatures will be a mild 15-18 degrees.

While Saturday will start dry and bright in many places, it won’t last. There will be lingering rain over Leinster and Ulster while from mid-morning rain will move in over Munster and move northeastwards across the country. Top temperatures will be 14-17 degrees.

The outlook is not good either with Sunday promised to be a mix of sunshine and showers. Sunday evening will become increasingly cloudy and windy with rain spreading quickly northeastwards.
