Wrap up warm, it’s going to be chilly…

Following on from the recent cold snap that has gripped Ireland and caused chaos in some areas of the country, Met Éireann have issued another weather warning.

A status yellow low temperature warning has been issued for Ireland ahead of Monday night and Tuesday morning as temperatures look set to be extremely low.

Met Éireann are warning that air temperatures overnight will range from zero to minus four degrees celsius.

The warning was issued at midday on Monday and is active from 8pm on Monday until 10am on Tuesday.

The recent cold weather has caused disruption in many parts of the country with icy roads affecting rural areas and forcing the closure of some schools on Monday.

It has also affected flights to and from the UK with a number of flights between Dublin and London cancelled over the weekend due to heavy snow in London, leaving passengers stranded in the UK.

Frost will clear on Tuesday morning morning and cloud will increase with a band of rain pushing east across the country during the day.

The rain may be of sleet and snow over high ground, especially in northern areas.
