Rain, rain and more rain.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for 16 counties on Tuesday.

The warning was issued at 3pm on Tuesday and is valid from 5pm to 9pm this evening affecting Connacht, Cavan, Monaghan, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Longford, Louth, Offaly, Westmeath and Meath.

Met Éireann has said that heavy rainfall will continue today and early tonight and, paired with overnight accumulations, will lead to a risk of some flash flooding in some areas.

River levels already elevated by the heavy rain overnight will rise further and there is a risk this will also lead to some flooding.

A yellow rainfall warning was also issued by the Met Office for Antrim, Armagh, Down, Fermanagh, Tyrone and Derry, which is active until 6am on Wednesday morning.

The Met Office warned that flooding and disruption will be caused by the heavy rain.

A yellow wind warning for Munster, Dublin, Carlow, Kilkenny, Wexford and Wicklow is set to expire at 7pm on Tuesday evening as the remnants of Storm Francis pass over Ireland.

As we head into Wednesday, it will start out dry with sunny spells and a few scattered showers.

However, this will give way to more frequent, heavy showers in the northern half of the country into the afternoon, while there will be drier conditions in the south of the country.
