“I’m dreaming of a really, really windy Christmas” as Bing Crosby never sang.

It looks like Christmas is in severe danger of blowing away completely and all of your presents likely to be replaced by boxes of wind this year as Met Éireann have issued an Orange Warning.

According to the Met Éireann website, this new status update means that weather condidtions will be “very windy with severe gusts early this morning. The southwesterly winds will ease a little later in the morning, although they will still remain strong right through the rest of the day. Otherwise the day will be cold and bright with heavy wintry showers, more frequent in the west of the country. Highest temperatures of 4 or 5 degrees.”

Motorists are being advised to exercise caution amid the Christmas travel rush so slow down, check local weather and traffic reports before planning a journey and watch out for debris.

No silly, don’t watch out for the woman who sang ‘You Gotta Be’ and ‘Life.’

That’s Des’ree. Not debris.

You can check out a five-day-forecast over on Met.ie.
