Just the two…

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for Cork and Waterford.

The warning was issued on Thursday afternoon at 4pm and is valid from 2am on Friday until 2am on Saturday.

Met Éireann warned of frequent showers merging to longer spells of rain at times during the affected period. This will lead to accumulations of 25 to 35mm of rain in some parts, particularly near the south coast.

Overnight, people can expect some showers in the northeast of the country and parts of south Munster.

The showers will be heavy and turn to longer spells of rain in the south and there’ll be a continued risk of hail and thunder. However, in other areas there’ll be a good deal of dry weather with clear spells and a few misty patches.

Friday will be clear over the northern half of the country with some good sunny spells but the southern half will experience some cloudier weather with some spells of showers and heavy rain.

Again in the south and south-west, there’ll be a risk of hail and thunder, some spot flooding is possible.

Moving onto the weekend, Saturday is looking mainly dry with sunny spells and just isolated showers while Sunday will be fairly sunny and dry apart from the odd shower on east coasts.

However, it will be cold overnight on Saturday and Sunday with temperatures dipping below zero in some places.
