A status yellow rainfall warning was issued for Connacht, Donegal, Cork, Kerry and Waterford.

The warning, issued at 12pm on Sunday, comes into effect at midnight on Tuesday and is valid for 24 hours.

Met Éireann has said that intense rainfall is expected at times on Monday night and into Tuesday with 30 to 50mm of rain expected to fall and bring some surface flooding.

There will be thundery downpours at times which could also lead to some flooding from rivers.

Separately, a status yellow wind warning has also been issued for Munster and Wexford.

The warning was similarly issued at 12pm on Sunday and is valid from 6am on Tuesday until 7pm on Tuesday evening.

Met Éireann has said it will be very windy on Tuesday as strong southwest winds veering westerly will bring gusts of between 90 and 110km/h, and even higher in coastal areas.
