Met Éireann issues weather warning for 18 counties

Weather warning

A wet one.

Met Éireann has issued a status yellow rainfall warning for 18 counties.

The warning is valid from 6am on Thursday until 6am on Friday and affects all of the counties in Munster and Leinster.

Met Éireann warned of intense and potentially thundery downpours on Thursday and Thursday night, which could lead to some localised flooding in some areas.

Due to recent heavy rainfall, river flooding is possible due to already elevated river levels.

Overall, Thursday will be cloudy with showers and longer spells of heavy rain at times.

There’s a risk of some thundery downpours and some localised flooding, mainly in the midlands, south and east.

But there will be some bright spells in some areas as well, with the best of these occurring in the south of the country.

Friday will be rather cloudy with some scattered showers and heavy rain, but it will brighten from the west later in the day ahead of a weekend that, thankfully, is set to be a lot more settled than what we’ve had to put up with this week so far.
