Met Éireann has forecast ‘wet snow’ for parts of the country tonight

Snow

Heaven for some, hell for others.

Right now, we imagine supermarkets and shops across Ireland are stocking up on bread. Why?

Well, we’re certain they’re extremely diligent and professional when it comes to their daily routine, but with a forecast for wet snow this evening, here’s hoping that the madness we saw during ‘The Beast from the East’ doesn’t rear its ugly head again.

Met Éireann is forecasting that tonight will be very cold with frost in places along with “a transient period of sleet and wet snow”.

This evening is expected to be particularly cold due to frost setting in from eastern and northern areas .

Wet and breezy conditions are expected to push in over the country from the Atlantic on Thursday evening, preceded in some parts, by the aforementioned transient period of sleet and wet snow. Temperatures between zero and plus 2 are also expected.

So, tea and blankets at the ready, eh?

As for Friday, it’s shaping up to be a wet and windy start to the day but conditions will improve by the afternoon.

However, Friday night is set to be cold and rainy with heavy showers and a slight risk of hail. Lowest temperatures will be between -1 and 2 degrees.
