Well… shit.

Snow is being predicted for St Patrick’s Day by Met Éireann who are promising a very cold weekend ahead.

Top temperatures in some areas at the weekend will be at 1 to 2 degrees in the north and east of the country, although it will be milder in west and south west coasts with temperatures of 5 to 6 degrees.

Met Eireann have said that: “St Patrick’s weekend will be very cold. Saturday, St Patrick’s Day will be dry in many areas, with bright spells, but scattered snow showers will occur, mainly in eastern coastal counties and along the south coast.”

Sunday will be still very cold, with scattered snow showers, most of them in Leinster and the eastern half of Munster, but well scattered elsewhere, with sunny spells.

Met Éireann also issued a status yellow weather warning ahead of blustery conditions this week.

Very wet and windy weather is expected to affect mainly Munster and south Leinster this Wednesday 14 March.

The warning is active from 12am on Wednesday and will last 24 hours.
