14 counties have been issued with Status Yellow snow and ice warnings by Met Éireann.
Published by the Irish meteorological service on Tuesday (7 March), one of the alerts will be valid from 6am to midnight on Thursday.
It applies to the province of
Connacht, as well as the counties
Cavan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and
Westmeath.
"A spell of rain will move up over the country on Thursday morning, turning to sleet and snow with some accumulations expected," the warning states, with "hazardous driving conditions" and "travel disruption" listed as the possible impacts.

Meanwhile, another Status Yellow snow and ice warning was issued by Met Éireann for
Cork and
Kerry.
It will be valid from 12am to 12pm on Wednesday and reads: "Patchy sleet or snow overnight and Wednesday morning. Potential for hazardous conditions on some roads and footpaths."

Met Éireann also published a Status Yellow low temperature and ice warning for
Connacht, along with
Cavan, Donegal, Longford, Louth, Meath, Monaghan and
Westmeath.
Taking effect from 9pm on Tuesday until 9am on Wednesday, it reads: "Hazardous conditions due to freezing temperatures. Icy stretches on roads and footpaths."

Meanwhile, the Irish meteorological service's forecast for Tuesday night says
temperatures could fall to as low as -6 in Ulster and the northwest.
