Met Éireann state that next week will see risks of spot flooding and strong to gale force winds

Weather warnings Saturday

After Storm Deirdre, here’s what’s in store.

Having endured some pretty wet and windy conditions due to Storm Deirdre, Met Éireann have stated that next week will be slightly similar, but weather conditions are expected to improve as the week develops.

Monday morning is set to be rainy in the west and south at first, spreading elsewhere during the afternoon. Sadly, these conditions will get heavier throughout the evening in Connacht, west Munster and west Ulster. There’s also a risk of spot flooding in these locations.

Strong winds with coastal gales or strong gales are also expected.

Tuesday morning is set to be wet everywhere with surface flooding on some roads. The heavy rain should die down though as the afternoon develops. This being said, some of the showers will be heavy and there’s a risk of hail and thunder near the coasts.

Scattered showers are expected on Tuesday night, mainly in the western and southern coastal counties.

Wednesday’s set to be a mixed bag with bright and sunny spells followed by scattered blustery showers.

The showers will likely be heaviest in Atlantic coastal counties, with a risk of hail and thunder there.

Thursday is expected to follow this trend of sunshine and showers although the risk of hail and thunder will gradually diminish.

Looking ahead to next weekend, the current indications suggest that we’re set for another spell of rain on Friday followed by showery conditions over the weekend.

All things considered, you better have that brolly on hand.
