This weekend’s already bad weather looks set to get a lot worse…

Earlier on Friday, Met Éireann has issued status yellow rainfall and wind warnings for the entire country as difficult weather continues to make its presence felt.

That followed an already present yellow weather warning for coastal areas, which has since been upgraded to an orange weather warning.

The latest weather warning was issued on Friday evening, as follows:

“Southeasterly winds will increase to gale force 8 or strong gale 9 [on Friday night] on coastal waters from Rossan Point to Howth Head to Hook Head and on the Irish Sea, extending to all coastal waters on Saturday morning.

“West to northwest winds will increase to gale 8 or strong gale 9 during Saturday afternoon/evening on coastal waters from Hook Head to Loop Head to Erris Head, increasing to storm force 10, possibly violent storm 11 from Hook Head to Valentia.”

With this weekend expected to be busy with pre-Christmas shoppers, everyone is being warned to be extra careful when outdoors on Saturday and Sunday due to the extreme weather conditions.
