Weather warning

Batten down the hatches…

Yesterday, a status yellow weather warning was issued by Met Éireann, with most of the country predicted to be affected by severe winds, heavy rain and even snow this week.

Today, Met Éireann have upgraded the weather warning to an orange alert.

A status orange wind warning has been issued for Dublin, Kildare, Louth, Wexford, Wicklow and Meath.

The warning, issued at 5pm on Wednesday, is valid from 5am on Thursday morning until 9am on Thursday morning and warns of a deepening Atlantic low pressure system moving across Ireland.

Met Éireann said: “Winds may increase higher than the general yellow warning, in eastern areas, for a time, later tonight and early Thursday morning, with northwest winds of mean winds of 70 to 80 km/h giving gusts up to 110 to 120km/h possible.”
