Met Éireann warns of flooding and thunder next week as “low pressure” to hit Ireland

Clara Kelly

This week is going to have plenty of sunshine before things take a turn on Sunday.

Met Éireann has predicted a week of wet and breezy weather next week with thunder and spot flooding as “low pressure” is set to hit the country.

While plenty of sunshine and temperatures up to 23 degrees are on the cards over the coming days, conditions are set to change from early next week.

There will be low cloud, mist and fog during the later part of the day on Thursday with some hazy sunshine and showers later across parts of Munster and Leinster. Temperatures are set to reach between 20 to 23 degrees.

Mist and fog will clear in most areas during Friday morning, conditions will be dry at first, with well-scattered showers developing towards the afternoon, and more general rain moving in later in the afternoon.

However, conditions will have plenty of warm spells of hazy sunshine too with highest temperatures of between 18 to 22 degrees.

Saturday will be cloudy overall with scattered outbreaks of showery rain. Although, some heavier bursts are likely across the south and west. There will also be longer drier spells with some sunny breaks possible.

Conditions will be warm and humid with top temperatures of 17 to 21 degrees.

Sunday will see widespread showers throughout the day, especially in the afternoon and evening with thundery downpours leading to spot flooding. Temperatures will remain relatively high at 17 to 21 degrees.

Early next week however will see low pressure move up across Ireland with spells of wet and breezy weather. Temperatures will be slightly lower at between 15 to 18 degrees.
