Met Éireann warns of thunder and rain as temperatures to soar to 21 degrees

It looks like the nice weather will be continuing this week but there may be some outbreaks of rain.

Met Éireann has warned of the possibility of thunder and rain as temperatures are set to soar to 21 degrees on Wednesday.

There are set to be showery outbreaks of rain in the south throughout the day with rain later spreading north. The rain is set to turn heavy and possibly thundery at times, particularly in the south and east.

However, drier weather will develop towards the evening in Munster, Connacht, and south Leinster as the rain moves north. Temperatures will continue to hover between 16 to 21 degrees.

Tomorrow morning will be generally dry with just isolated showers and sunny spells developing. Showers will turn more frequent in the west and southwest through the afternoon and evening but elsewhere will remain mostly dry.

Highest temperatures will generally reach 15 to 19 degrees but will be a little cooler in Munster and south Leinster, with highest temperatures there of 13 to 15 degrees in moderate to fresh and gusty southerly winds.

The good news is, the showers and spells of rain are set to end this week, with the driest spells over the eastern half of the country, gradually turning drier through the weekend.

Friday will see a largely dry start to the day with sunny spells and well-scattered showers. A spell of rain will push into Munster and Connacht from the Atlantic in the afternoon.

However, it will stay largely dry with sunny spells over Ulster and Leinster. Highest temperatures of 14 to 18 degrees are expected in moderate to fresh southerly winds.

Saturday will see the rain gradually clear through Saturday morning and afternoon with drier and brighter conditions developing as it does.

However, isolated patches of light rain and drizzle will linger in places, with highest temperatures of 15 to 19 degrees in a light southwesterly breeze.

Sunday should also be a largely dry day with sunny spells and just isolated showers and again, highest temperatures will be around the mid to late teens.

Monday will bring a spell of rain across the country but there will be drier spells from Tuesday on, with a mix of showers and sunny spells.
