Time to start thinking about getting the good jacket out.

Met Éireann has said that early indications suggest that the weather in Ireland will get noticeably colder next weekend.

While Storm Lorenzo did cause flooding and damage in some areas, it didn’t quite hit with the force that some people probably expected for an ex-hurricane.

The week ahead looks likely to be without a storm, but it will be unsettled with wind and rain being a regular sight.

Monday will start wet and windy in the east but drier and brighter conditions will move in from the west through the morning. The afternoon will bring with it sunny spells but also showers, some of which will be heavy.

Tuesday and Wednesday will be similar as a band of rain will push east over the country on Tuesday, along with strong southwest winds.

This will clear and followed by occasional blustery showers for Tuesday night and Wednesday with some of the showers being heavy, thundery and even some hail.

As we head to later in the week, there’s a promise of some large amounts of rain to fall on Thursday night and into Friday.

As mentioned previously, early indications suggest the weekend will be noticeably colder.
