The warning has already taken effect.
20 counties have been hit with a Status Yellow wind warning by
Met Éireann.
Issued on Wednesday morning, the latest alert has already taken effect and will be valid until 8am later that day. The warning applies to all the counties in the provinces of
Connacht and
Munster.
It also impacts
Carlow, Donegal, Dublin, Kildare, Laois, Kilkenny, Offaly, Wexford and
Wicklow.
"Very strong west to northwest winds developing. Gusts of 80 to 110 km/h expected, stronger in coastal areas and over high ground. Wave overtopping in coastal areas," the warning reads.

As for Thursday, Met Éireann's national forecast says there will be a mix of sunny spells and showers. The latter will be heaviest and most frequent in the north and east, where there is a chance of hail.
Top temperatures will range 9 to 12 degrees in light or moderate westerly winds, fresher along the north coast.
Meanwhile, the Irish meteorological service's national outlook for the rest of the week reads: "Cool and unsettled up to and including Saturday. Milder from Sunday."
