Batten down the hatches…

Met Eireann on Tuesday issued another weather warning for parts of the country to follow the one that was issued on Monday afternoon.

A status yellow wind warning has been issued for Dublin, Wexford, Wicklow, Clare, Cork, Kerry, Limerick and Waterford.

The warning was given at 6am on Tuesday and is active from 2pm on Tuesday until midnight.

Met Eireann have warned of a deepening depression tracking eastwards across the country this evening that will bring with it heavy winds affecting many parts of the country.

A band of very strong winds will be on the depression’s southern and western flanks, which will affect coastal counties in the southwest, south and possibly parts of the east coast later.

Mean winds of between 50 to 65km/h are expected but there will be gusts of up to 110km/h in coastal counties of the southwest and south in the afternoon.

The severe winds will become northwesterly and possibly transfer to parts of the east coast later this evening or early tonight.

Met Eireann have said that winds will be at their strongest in exposed coastal areas.
