Met Éireann’s forecast will have you reaching for the hot water bottle

It'll be a cold one tonight.

Carl Kinsella

Winter is well and truly here.

Kettles all over Ireland will be working overtime tonight as everyone desperately tries to keep warm despite freezing cold temperatures. Met Éireann‘s most recent forecast has predicted temperatures between zero and two degrees tonight, which will result in “widespread frost” across Ireland.

The chilly weather will persist throughout the rest of the week. Wednesday is expected to see highs of between 10 and 13 degrees, while Thursday is set to be even colder with highs of between 7 and 10 degrees.

Met Éireann also warns that we can expect rain throughout the week, with drizzle set to spread across the country from the west tomorrow, and turning to persistent rain in the west and north on Thursday.

Time for the hot water bottles, woolly hats and scarves to come out in earnest.
