Meteor customers can expect a big change from the company come September

It's a big change.

It’s the end of an era.

Meteor was established in 2001 and grabbed the attention of everyone with their catchy jingle and unbelievable pay as you go offers which were the first of its kind back in the mid-noughties.

Their success continued after they were bought by Eircom Group in 2005 but sadly after 12 years of service, the orange branded mobile company will be no more come September.

Meteor will no longer be a standalone brand within the eir Group but instead, will be rebranded as eir.

eir CEO Richard Moat said:

“The transition will be seamless, and Meteor customers will continue using their mobiles exactly as before – with the added benefit of a world of possibilities.

“By focusing on a single mobile brand and reducing the duplication of supporting two brands, we can offer better value and increased innovation,” he concluded.

Moat believed that customers may not have known that Meteor was part of the eir brand already and that the move is not as big as it seems.

If you are a meteor customer and are worried about contracts and mobile plans as part of the rebrand, eir has assured customers that they will receive either an email or text message which will outline the terms and conditions of the move.
