The Wexford TD was heavily criticised after a post on Twitter last night.
Mick Wallace TD came in for heavy criticism last night after sending a tweet about France’s role in the militarisation of the planet shortly after news broke about last night’s terrible events in Paris.
So terrible for the victims, but when is France going to stop it's role in the militarisation of the planet? https://t.co/jjymbD2w0k

A number of people, including fellow TDs, responded to Wallace’s tweet by calling it untimely and insensitive and there were also calls for Wallace to apologise.
He really should retract that. https://t.co/nbS3YQQz3T

@wallacemick ah Mick, very disappointing insensitive tweet. Tonight is about people who are dead and those held hostage. Please re consider

@wallacemick Seriously?!? You decided this was an appropriate tweet on hearing the news??

@wallacemick if you've nothing useful to say – say nothing

@wallacemick Fuck sake Mick. Way too far. Apologise

Clare Daly, meanwhile, was one of a minority to support Wallace’s point of view and she too came in for criticism after retweeting Wallace’s post with a comment of her own.
Tragedy beyond belief…everyone's thoughts with victims but it's always the right time to ask why or it will go on. https://t.co/G4UGC2wZY5
