At 6pm on Sunday, searchers found a body in the River Suir roughly 8km from her home in Carrick-On-Suir in Tipperary while on their way back from a routine operation.

Gardaí have since confirmed that the body has been identified as Elisha Gault.

The teen’s body was taken to Waterford University Hospital where she was identified.

“Gardaí would like to thank all the volunteers and search agencies in the search for Elisha and also to the media in their coverage of the appeals for assistance.”

On Saturday, Elisha’s parents made another plea for their daughter to come home.

“Elisha, your daddy, myself and your three sisters love and miss you very much,” her mum said on Facebook.

“We continue to thank everybody involved in searching, helping and supporting, you will be eternally in our hearts.”
