It’s a mixed bag on the weather front this weekend

Laura Holland

You’re going to need to be prepared.

What would an Irish summer be without the odd heavy shower after a few hours of sunshine? These days you need to leave the house with flip flops and an umbrella, to cover yourself for either outcome.

And it looks like the weekend isn’t going to be plain sailing on the weather front. Met Eireann is forecasting mixed weather conditions with a combination of dry sunny spells and heavy downpours.

Friday will be mainly dry except for a band of rain that will spread from west to east in the afternoon. Some of those showers could be thundery but it will still be fairly mild with temperatures of 12 to 15 degrees.

On Saturday more showers and sunshine have been forecast.

Rain will only affect west Munster, Connacht and north-west Ulster on Sunday morning but we’ll see a nice dry afternoon for most places with warm humid conditions and temperatures ranging between 16 and 18 degrees.

The outlook for next week is much the same with scattered outbreaks of rain in between sunny spells.
