A prisoner has been hospitalised following a serious assault in a prison in Dublin on Friday (29 July).
The prisoner, a man in his 30s, was attacked in Mountjoy.
The man is currently receiving treatment for serious injuries acquired in the course of the assault at the Mater Misericordiae University Hospital.
The scene has been technically examined, and an incident room has been established at Mountjoy Garda Station.
Investigations into the assault are currently ongoing.
