The man is due to appear in court via videolink on Wednesday.
A 36-year-old man has been charged with murder and possession of a weapon following the fatal stabbing of a 28-year-old man on Monday (3 January).
It is understood that the man was stabbed in the Church Street area of Downpatrick at approximately 11am on Monday.
He was later pronounced dead at the scene.
Detectives from the Police Service of Northern Ireland’s Major Investigation Team had formally launched a murder inquiry, and arrested the 36-year-old man on Monday.
He is due to appear before Newtownards Magistrates Court via videolink on Wednesday morning (5 January).
All charges will be reviewed by the Public Prosecution Service.
