Thank the ploughing gods.

Day 2 (Wednesday September 19) of the National Ploughing Championships was called off early this morning after it became clear that Storm Ali had made it too dangerous to proceed.

Originally it had seemed as though the event would just be delayed but by late morning the National Ploughing Association called it off.

But as the storm begins to clear, there’s good news on the horizon. In a statement on their Twitter, the NPA has announced that the ploughing will be extended by an additional day. While tomorrow (September 20) was originally scheduled to be the final day, it has now been confirmed that the festivities will continue until Friday September 21.

“The event arena will be open for an extra day on Friday. Wristbands from today(Wednesday) will be valid both Thursday and Friday. See you on site

The 2018 National Ploughing Championships are taking place in Tullamore, Co. Offaly.
