The biggest day in the football calendar is nearly upon us and the GAA have revealed the cover of the match day programme for Sunday’s titanic clash between Dublin and Mayo.

The match-day programme is a highly coveted souvenir for many supporters, a keep sake of some glorious days, some heart-breaking days and the programmes for the All-Ireland hurling and football championship would hold its own with any sport in the world.

As well as being awash with stats, interviews, trivia and the line-ups – or at least reported line-ups – the programmes are multi-functional, often providing a shield in the teaming rain or as a visor in the sun.

The cover for Sunday sees a dark cover and Sam Maguire lit up by a bolt of lightning and these will be snapped up by the 80,000 plus supporters that will make their way through the turnstiles.

It has whet the appetite even more, if that is possible at this stage.
