The changes came into effect at midnight last night.
New restrictions came into effect in Ireland on Monday in a bid to slow the speed of the Omicron Covid-19 variant.
The restrictions were announced on Friday by Taoiseach Micheál Martin and came into effect at midnight last night and will last until 30 January.
As part of the changes, pubs and restaurants must close at 8pm, but takeaway and delivery services can operate past this time.
Indoor events must end at 8pm and attendance is limited to 1,000 people, or 50% of the venue’s capacity, whichever number is lower.
For organised outdoor events (including sporting events), attendance is limited to 5,000 people or50% of the venue’s capacity, whichever number is lower.
For weddings, the receptions must end at midnight and attendance is limited to 100 guests.
There are also some changes to the advice regarding close contacts and restriction of movements.
“For those who have received a booster at least one week ago, they will have to restrict movement for five days and take three antigen tests,” the Taoiseach said on Friday.
“For those that have not yet received a booster they must restrict their movement for 10 days. The HSE will consider the best testing regime for people in this category.”
Also, all passengers arriving in Ireland are now advised to conduct antigen testing on a daily basis for a period of five consecutive days, commencing on the day of arrival.
