New schools to be opened in Wexford, Wicklow, Meath and Carlow

Carl Kinsella

Five new schools and a college are set to be built across Meath, Carlow, Wicklow and Wexford.

The development represents a €90 million investment by the Public Private Partnership Programme, and will see four secondary schools built as well as a primary school and an Institute of Further Education.

According to Newstalk, the schools are expected to open across 2017 and 2018 – providing spaces for roughly 4500 students.

The secondary schools will open in Wexford Town, Kells, Bray and and Carlow. The primary school will also be based in Bray, and the third-level Institute of Further Education based in Carlow.

Ireland’s Minister for Education has expressed his happiness with the move, calling it a “very welcomed investment in education”.
